1. What is the type of the drilling rigs?
According to the drilling method there are two types of drilling rigs: rotary and percussion ones. The offered rigs are rotary, it means that rocks are destroyed in the result of rotation of the bit which is pressed to the well bottom. Rotary drilling is used in soft and medium rocks, percussion in hard rocks.
2. What is the drive of 1BA15 and URB-3A3 rigs?
The drive of the rigs is mechanical.
1BA15 rigs are driven by chassis engine, there is also the possibility of drive doubling by engine (YAMZ-236) of:
- PK15B compressor block (for 1BA15v.02, BA15.06);
- PKE15compressor-energy block (for 1BA15k.01);
- NP15A pump-power block (for 1BA15n.01).
URB-3A3 rigs have independent deck diesel engine.
3. What are particularities of chassis of 1BA15 and URB-3A3 drilling rigs?
1BA15 and URB-3A3 rigs are mounted on URAL-4320 chassis. URAL-4320 chassis is of high flotation, i.e. it is preferable in the regions where roads are difficult to traverse (sand, etc)

4. Is the mast of 1BA15 and URB-3A3 drilling rigs telescopic?
The mast is not telescopic, it is jackknife and it consists of 2 parts: upper and lower. In transport position the upper section is folded in two and is put on lower section.
Vertical mast 18,6 m height – for stalk of 12 m long;
Inclined mast 16,5 m height - for stalk of 9 m long.
Rigs construction allows to apply a must of 19,7 m height for stalk 13,5 m long.
Must is raised and descended by hydraulic jacks of double actions.
5. What are the main differences between 1BA15 and URB-3A3?

6. Is a set of drilling tubes included in the basic equipment of the rigs?
Only an operating square tube is included in the basic equipment. A set of drilling tubes is possible to deliver on customer’s demand
7. Is a compressor included in the basic equipment of BA15 and URB-3A3?
- PK15B compressor block mounted on MAZ-8925 trailer is included in the basic equipment of 1BA15v.02, 1BA.06
- PKE15 compressed air-power unit (compressor, generator, welding transformer) mounted on MAZ-8925 trailer is included in the basic equipment of 1BA15k.01
Compressor is included as an additional equipment supplied on customer’s demand for 1BA15n.01 and URB-3A3:
- PK15B compressor block mounted on MAZ-8925 trailer for well completion;
- PKE15 compressed air-power unit (compressor, generator, welding transformer) mounted on MAZ-8925 trailer
8. Is a mud pump included in the basic equipment of BA15 and URB-3A3?
Yes, all drilling rigs are equipped with NB-50 mud pump.
Two NB-50 mud pumps are included in the basic equipment of URB-3A3.051 drilling rig.
NP15A pump-power block with NB-125 mud pump is included in the basic equipment of 1BA15n.01 drilling rig.
In some cases (for example operations in sandy rocks) one NB-50 mud pump is not enough, that is why it is possible to mount NP15A pump-power unit mounted on MAZ-8925 additionally.
9. Are bits included in the basic equipment?
No. The supply of the bits are possible on demand. For demand it is necessary to point the rock type and bit diameter, or bit type according to the table of standards.
10. What are the particularities and advantages of 1BA15 and URB-3A3 drilling rigs?
Particularities of 1BA15:
- The main equipment of the rig (rotary table R-410, double-drum drawworks – main and auxiliary drums, mast, mud pump, electric generator) mounted on MAZ-5337 or URAL-4320; PK15B compressed air unit, PKE15 compressed air-power unit, NP15A pump-power unit and BA15-71sb device for tubes transportation mounted on MAZ-8925 which provides high mobility and saves time for transportation and assembling and disassembling works.
- Drive from chassis engine
- Power reserve and drive of any mechanisms from each of the two engines increases the reliability of drilling operations and reduces emergency downtime
- A wide range of drawworks speed and rotary table speed allows to execute different operations.
- The rig construction allows to apply drilling and casing tubes 12 m long and to set wells by tubes with diameter till 360 mm without removal of rotary table.
- Pneumatic control of the main mechanisms considerably increases the responsiveness and facilitates a drill operator work, manual control provides control reliability.
- Powerful compressor included in 1BA15v.02, BA15.06, 1BA15k.01 drilling rigs allows to execute building and experimental water pumping.
- Pump-power unit with highly efficient pump which is included in 1BA15n.01 allows to drill big diameter wells in forced drilling practices.
- Hydrodistributor (1BA15v.02, BA15.06) and device for uncoupling of drilling tubes with diameter 73 mm by means of rotary table facilitate and accelerate trip operations.

Following equipment makes the work comfortable and increases industrial safety: limiter of tackle block pulling, drilling site construction, device for kelly bar carryover, repair work and assembling, load dragging, mud hose suspenders, blow of ascending manifold with air, emergency lighting 24 V, hand-operated pump for filling, bench screw, etc.
Advantages of the rig:
- High transportability.
- Increased working resources (improvement of driveline construction, power takeoff, compressor drive, reinforcement of back column and drilling unit frame).
- Swivel with hinged shock absorbing cross-piece of original construction.
Particularities of URB-3A3:
URB-3A3 drilling rigs represent one of the modifications of BA15 type mobile rigs.
- The rig is mobile, it consists of mechanisms mounted on the common frame which is fixed to the frame of truck chassis.
- The aggregate is designed for wells drilling by continuous face and curf with the use of drill pipes of 60,3-63,5 mm for the drilling depth till 700-600 m and of 73-89 mm for the drilling depth till 400-300 m.
- The aggregate includes: R-410 rotary table with the bore diameter 410 mm; double-drum drawworks – main and auxiliary drums; deck diesel engine; mast 18, 6 m long with open face of folded type with supporting screw jacks; generator with diesel engine.
- The drive is carried out by self-contained deck diesel engine.
Advantages of the rig:
- Pneumatic control of the main mechanisms (URB-3A3.13, URB3A3.05, URB3A3.051) increases responsiveness and reduces exertion on handle, manual doubling provides high reliability of the rig control.
- A wide range of speed on drawworks and rotary table allows to choose well drilling techniques.
- Mechanization tools make the work comfortable and increases industrial safety, facilitate the auxiliary and repair works, reduce the time of their carrying out.
11. What is the speed of drilling rigs?
If we study the technological parameters of drilling and first of all the rate of penetration and bit run speed these do not yield or yield insignificantly to expensive foreign analogues. It occurs not because of the rigs parameters but because of less efficient pumping equipment and lack of forced effort on the bottomhole. These disadvantages are easily eliminated by the additional equipment: NB-125 mud pump on the 1NP15A independent unit and the mechanism of forced feed which is important, as well as in the foreign analogues, only at small well depth and consequently at small weight of the instrument. For the calculation of the drilling speed it is necessary to know the rock type and the bit diameter.
